4 hours; 4 credits. A normative and empirical analysis of the behavior and decisions of the Supreme Court in the area of civil rights and liberties. Emphasis on freedom of speech and association, church-state relations, racial problems, and the rights of the criminal defendant. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or permission of the instructor.
