Basic enzymology and biochemical reaction mechanisms involved in macromolecular synthesis and degradation, transport, and movement. General metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and nitrogen-containing materials such as amino acids, proteins, and related compounds. Genetic information flow and the regulation of gene expression. In addition, this one-semester biochemistry course also serves as preparation for the MCAT and other professional standardized exams.
